Huntsville Airport Repaving Projects to Impact Driving Traffic, Parking for 60 Days

Inbound and outbound traffic to be affected due to lane closures.

Economy Parking will be impacted due to repaving.

Project expected to last 60 days.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., October 4, 2021 – Travelers through Huntsville International Airport are urged to allow extra drive time for the next two months as Glenn Hearn Blvd. and some parking areas will be affected by repaving projects.

Work will consist of mill and overlay of the asphalt paving on Glenn Hearn Blvd. (both inbound and outbound lanes); mill and overlay of the Economy Parking Lot; and cleaning and restriping of concrete in front of the Terminal building.

Please note the following impacts to driving and parking at Huntsville International Airport:

  • One lane of Glenn Hearn Blvd. (inbound and outbound) will be available for use while work is taking place.
  • Some areas of the Economy Parking Lot will be closed while work is taking place.
  • Entry to the Economy Parking Lot will be impacted during portions of the work. For short periods of time, access to Economy Parking will be unavailable.
  • Disability Access parking will be available in the Parking Deck when the Disability Access spaces in the Economy Lot are unavailable.
  • Rental car return traffic is expected to be able to use normal access routes throughout construction.
  • All vehicular traffic is encouraged to use caution when driving in the area.
  • Work is scheduled to begin the week of October 4 and is anticipated to last 60 days.

“We all know that from time to time maintenance projects like this are necessary to keep our roads safe for drivers and parking lots well-kept and free of potholes for their vehicles,” said Barbie Peek, Business Development Manager for the Port of Huntsville. “We just ask everyone to once again pack your patience as well as some extra drive- and parking-time into your travel schedules for the next two months.”
